About Chromabird

Hi and welcome! :)

I hope you enjoy exploring my little corner of the internet.

One day, I was searching for a new hobby—ideally, one that could also earn me a bit of money on the side—and I stumbled upon the idea of creating coloring books using AI tools. AI as a tool for making art is still very new in the established art world and faces a lot of criticism. Despite that, I found it fascinating from the very beginning. I started experimenting with it and created my first coloring books using AI.

For anyone who hasn’t worked with AI and imagines it to be some kind of magical wand, let me tell you—it’s not! Working with AI is both a great pleasure and a great challenge. The tools are still in their infancy, so you’ll often end up with completely absurd outputs—which, to be honest, I find hilarious. However, many people seem to feel personally offended, insulted, or even threatened by AI. I’m not entirely sure why, but I think it might be because they don’t understand it fully or imagine it to be something it’s not.

That said, I’m far from considering myself a true AI artist. I’m still a beginner, and I see myself more as a storyteller who uses AI as a tool to bring my thoughts to life visually. It’s similar to how film or photography works—you don’t paint the visuals by hand, but instead create them using specialized tools like a camera.

On this website, you’ll find my coloring books, some of which I create using AI, and some without it. I’ll always be transparent about when I use AI, but if you’re ever unsure about the medium I used and curious to know, just ask! I’m happy to share.
I’ll also be sharing my thoughts on AI, people’s reactions to it, coloring books, and anything else that inspires me enough to write about it. I’ll try to keep the content mostly art-related so there’s at least some sense of theme rather than pure chaos.

I look forward to having meaningful interactions with other artists and people interested in the topics I explore here. I don’t claim to be completely up-to-date with public opinions or the latest knowledge, nor do I hold rigid opinions myself. I’d rather keep evolving and learning. The world feels like a scary place right now, where people argue over the smallest things instead of engaging in productive dialogue. I hope this little corner of the internet can be a safe and civil space where we can agree to disagree and learn from one another.

Full disclaimer: My first language is German. I write my texts in English to make them accessible to an international audience, but before posting them, I run them through an AI tool like ChatGPT to correct any grammatical errors. Since this website discusses AI, I thought it would be relevant to mention this here.

Finally, here’s an AI-generated (MidJourney) picture I created using the prompt: imagine a chromabird.
Since chromabirds don’t exist in real life, this is what the AI imagined this fantastical creature to look like:
